What is a mental performance consultant?

A mental performance consultant teaches mental skills to athletes, coaches, leaders, and other high-performers. They are an expert in sport/performance psychology, but are not a mental health practitioner (e.g., counsellor, psychologist). 

Who might seek support from a mental performance consultant?

Individual athletes, teams, coaches, organization leaders, performers (e.g., musicians, actors), or others who may want to develop mental skills. 

What types of sport psychology skills can I learn?

Clients seek support for a number of different skills, such as:

  • Coping under pressure

  • Managing thoughts and emotions

  • Building confidence

  • Goal setting

  • Imagery/Visualization

  • Focus & Refocusing 

  • Preparation for competition

  • Teamwork

  • Communication

  • Leadership

What does a typical session look like?

Individual sessions typically last 60 minutes.

Team workshops typically last 60-90 minutes.

There can be flexibility in session length and delivery type (e.g., virtual, on-field, classroom) depending on the client's needs.
